Lost & Found

I once lost something precious,
its loss felt deep inside.
I knew not where I lost it,
knew not where it might hide.

And so I searched with passion,
looked low and then looked high.
I did not stop at sundown,
continued through the night.

I did not watch the hours;
it mattered not the cost.
The only thing that counted
was finding what I lost.

So you have felt forgotten,
discarded with the trash.
You’ve felt completely worthless,
that no one cared or asked.

But Jesus has been searching
with passion and with care.
He knows that you are lonely.
He knows that you are scared.

He will not stop His seeking,
your loss He cannot bear,
Until at last He finds you
with joy … and hugs you there.
